UMaine Men’s Basketball Coach Walsh settling into life at Orono

bob_walshIt has been five months since Bob Walsh took over the reins of the University of Maine Men’s Basketball program and so we decided to have him back on the Fill The Steins Podcast to check in on his adjustments to life at Orono.

With time to settle in at the helm we asked Walsh what his impressions were of UMaine as a whole and more specifically the athletic department that has been established in the last year under Karlton Creech. Walsh discussed the importance of having a signature pre-season event as the catalyst for establishing the Skip Chappelle Blue-White Scrimmage this month. With Butler, Boston College, and Seton Hall as part of the non-conference schedule this season we asked the coach to look ahead to those games and tell us how he would define success against those power conference and mid-major schools. While we all wish for a speedy turn around to the men’s basketball program, we asked Walsh to tell us what he would categorize as a successful first season for his team. Lastly we discussed living in Maine and getting out to enjoy the sights and sounds of Orono including taking in a hockey game, food and beverage scene, and much more.
