How do you define success for the UMaine Women’s Basketball Program?

Amy Vachon/assistant basketball coachThe 2013-14 season was a transition year for the University of Maine Women’s Basketball team with Coach Richard Barron taking over and infusing the program with an energy it hadn’t seen in years. With ten returning players and a hand full of new faces we thought it was the perfect chance to preview the season with an original FOFTS (Friend of Fill The Steins), lady Black Bears’ assistant coach Amy Vachon on the FTS Podcast.

Fresh off an exhibition win against McGill University this weekend, Coach Vachon took us inside the locker room and practices to let us know how the team looks going into the 2014-15 season. With Liz Wood and Courtney Anderson returning to the squad we asked Vachon if there would be any other names we would need to keep an eye out for to make an impact this season. We also had a chance to ask why Vachon left a state championship head coaching position at McAuley High School to return to Orono and try her hand at college coaching.

With football off this weekend we recapped the men’s basketball and hockey games and talked about what’s coming up on FillTheSteins.com this week.
